We need the Government to provide funding to ensure that infrastructure designed to drain & protect East Anglia from flooding is restored and improved to its full capability.
So we have started a Petition.
We want to address the flooding in the UK.
Enough is enough. We are starting a petition and we are aiming high.
When the petition gets 100,000 signatures, it will be considered for debate in Parliament and then can achieve something good.
Keep a look out and as soon as we have the link we will put it up on here. In the meantime you can stay updated on our Facebook Group: Stop The Floods
Businesses of all sizes should consider having a flood plan, and for larger businesses with multiple sites the flood risk should be considered on a site-by-site basis.
This may be done centrally, however it is important that site managers understand what plans are in place for their premises and ensure that site specific changes are made to best protect the property and staff.
The problem with the 100ft river is it is SILTED up from Stow Bridge to Kings Lynn. This is holding most of the water up from flowing to the sea.
Instead of dredging the silt out, the authorities were going to try to stir the silt up in the hope the flow of water from the flooded washes would flush it out sea.
One in 10 of all new homes in England since 2013 have been built on land at the highest risk of flooding, official figures reveal, potentially leaving tens of thousands of people in greater danger from extreme winter storms.
We feel it’s time to go public because of the lack of concern shown by the Environment Agency and local authorities. I want to bring people together to petition the government to dredge the main arteries to the sea.
For example the 100 foot river and New Bedford River take our water from Cambs and Northants out to sea. Towns and villages have been flooding due to the lack of upkeep of these rivers. For example the 100 foot river, designed to be 100 feet wide, is now less than 30 feet wide in some places.
We want to make everyone aware how close we are to major flooding in East Anglia due to lack of maintenance from environment agency of our waterways!
